Aakash World's Cheapest Tablet PC Launched Powered By Android 2.2

October 5, Mr Kapil Sibal, Union minister of Human Resource Development launched world's cheapest tablet PC Aakash. "Aakash will help in eliminating digital illiteracy", he said. Aakash was fully developed and made in India at a plant in Hyderabad. This Indian tablet is powered by Google Android OS 2.2 and has a 7 inch touch screen display. Government will provide 50% subsidy on it and in first phase as pilot project 100,000 tablets will be made available.  The device will be distributed to students through the institutions at which they are studying.
